Coworking is where you work with people in different industries and an employee here at Gravitate says once work from home started they began getting more inquiries about people wanting to leave home coming here to work and she says recently those have increased and that's because people have been telling her because of the promise of a vaccine and them feeling like it’s safer to go out.

For Mason Kessinger that looks like coming here to Gravitate, a coworking space in Downtown Des Moines. Kessinger opts to work here where dozens of other professions work instead of at home.

Mason Kessinger
Working from coworking space rather than working at home allows my home to be a sanctuary that I can come to and put work behind me. So I can come here and go through my daily routine and have all the amenities that I need.

The space offers Wifi, multiple places to sit and work, and even some phone booths to hold a Zoom meeting in private.

Essentially it’s a plug and play workspace.

The director of operations at Gravitate’s downtown location says since the pandemic and work from home started their business has been seeing a lot of interest but it has picked up even more, lately.

Abby Rowling
Especially with vaccines being distributed, we’re starting to see a rise in membership which is something we expected and we’re really hopeful for now that companies have empowered their employees to work from home.

Kessinger says when he comes into the space he is more productive and crosses more off his todo list but he says besides productive it gives him a chance to network.

Mason Kessinger
Gravitate’s social network has been really fundamental to me getting integrated with other people and knowing what's going on about town.

Khalil Maycock
It’s a network he credits with helping him start a business making flags and which Gravitate expects to grow even more in the coming months especially with more companies having employees stay remote.
